THE DISTRICT COUNCIL OF PAMPLEMOUSSES

With its unique rustic setting the district of Pamplemousses oozes a vast spectrum of natural beauty.  Set in one of the most agriculture – driven region of Mauritius, it is a symbol of the sugarcane industry as well as being a time capsule capturing the French Renaissance era of ‘Chateaux et Jardins’.  One such Jardin is the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden wherein are found many endemic plants – the most notorious being the Water Lily or Nenuphar.  Moreover the deer at the garden takes one back into the memory lane of nascent Mauritius when once they used to roam freely with the dodos.
Nostalgic as the place of Pamplemousses is, the district is moving within the modern era especially driven by Industry and Tourism.

The logo is an endeavour to capture the essence of Pamplemousses District, whereby special unique features are filtered to highlight its character.

The logo represents the spirit of the place – the “genius loci

NB: – It is to be noted that the logo of the District Council of Pamplemousses has been created by Yanesh BEEHARRY and Sonal RAMLUGAN – both students of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa.
