A few metres from the SSR Botanical Garden, and nearly at the rear of the Government Primary School is to be found the “Bassin des Esclaves” – another vestige of the by-gone times.  The slaves were given a bath there before being auctioned.

In fact the ‘auction sale’ was conducted within the premises now occupied by the District Council of Pamplemousses.
